raised herb gardens  arbor/bench
West Seattle oasis 2002
Designed by Lynn Kingelin & architect, Scott Boyle

This urban landscape was designed to sustain itself on benign neglect.
Surrounding by a cedar fence and arbor, the stone forming the paths
was found on-site. Recycled concrete was used to berm the earth
and create raised planting beds, augmenting poor glacial soil.
The urban garden is supported by a water-friendly irrigation system
and the center of the landscape now holds a large chessboard.
